For this week I worked on some basic anatomy studies. With a focus on muscle groups and their shape changes with the movement of the body.
This week I have some loose sketches. Some using reference others without. Most of this week I spent a good amount of effort looking into intent with sketches, I will consolidate more of my thoughts in a more flushed-out post in the future. For now, I feel that I am running into a new type of blank page wall. Instead of being stopped at the blank page I get past that to start sketching, but I'm lacking the purpose for what I'm drawing. From what I've discovered there are two forms of intent when sketching characters.
1. Technical Intent
2. Character Intent
Technical intent - the purpose of the practice is to improve a technical skill as an artist.
Character intent - the emotion or action the talent is performing in the sketch.
These sketches are still a bit ambiguous but less so than last week's post.
To be honest I was debating on not posting this sketch because although I enjoy the outcome of the piece I didn't have much intent during the creation. Part of my reasoning to post each week is to be more candid with my work and be open with showing my progress. I think putting this sketch out there will help me work more on intent with my daily practices.
This is my official post announcing the launch of my journey to self-employment. I now introduce NelsonAnimation. This is a soft launch, which means that is this is the first step in many more introductions of avenues to view & interact with myself at an artist's level.
I will be posting weekly content of my art. I have many plans for the future of NelsonAnimation that can only be achieved and sculpted by you, the audience. The largest goal I have is to provide quality content & work for the community. That is to say that I would love feedback on absolutely everything.
